The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) have reached an agreement to collaborate in the upcoming Senate election, on Tuesday. According to Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, a leader of the JUI, the PPP will support JUI candidates in the Senate elections in Balochistan, while the JUI will reciprocate by supporting Yousaf Raza Gillani.
Haideri emphasized that their cooperation would focus on parliamentary activities rather than involvement in government formation. Additionally, Nayyar Bukhari of the PPP stated that his party would back the JUI-F candidate in the Balochistan Senate by-election.
The election, slated for March 14, will encompass six seats across Islamabad, Sindh, and Balochistan. Gillani expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, highlighting numerous discussions with Maulana Sahib. He underscored their mutual support for parliamentary endeavors.

The Election Commission announced that polling would take place in the upper house of parliament, as well as in assemblies in Karachi and Quetta, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Thursday. These elections are prompted by the vacation of seats by senators who have transitioned to roles in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.
Earlier decisions by the PPP included nominating Yousaf Raza Gillani for the Senate chairman’s position, leading to his resignation from the National Assembly seat in Multan.
