Karachi Police Chief Dr. Amir Shaikh on Thursday, 18th April dismissed Superintendent of Police (SP) Gulshan Tahir Noorani over issuing threats to Nishwa’s father, a minor girl who got paralyzed after criminal negligence of Darul Sehat Hospital, situated in Karachi’s area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Noorani was dismissed in the light of probe report compiled by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Amir Farooqi. He was asked to report at the police lines.
On the other hand, AIG Karachi has also penned a letter to IGP Sindh Kaleem Imam, urging him to take departmental action against Noorani over threatening the affected family.
My daughter was paralyzed after they (hospital staff) put my daughter on a ventilator for over a week and then removed her from the machine on early Sunday morning, the father explained.
Tahir Noorani was seen in video footage purportedly threatening family to withdraw the case against the hospital administration and telling them ‘the hospital wouldn’t suffer, you will bear the brunt of problems…”
Instead of taking action against the culprits, SP Gulshan Tahir Noorani threatened the father, Qaiser Ali, with severe consequences over raising his voice against criminal negligence of the hospital administration which paralyzed the little girl.
The Karachi Police on Monday, 14th April, jotted a case of attempt to murder against the administration of the private hospital.

An FIR No 354/19 under the sections 324 and 337/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code which pertain to ‘attempt to murder’ and ‘negligence’, was registered against the administration of the Darul Sehat Hospital in Gulistan-e-Jauhar within the limits of the Shahrah-e-Faisal police station.
The father of the affected toddler said that he had brought his twin daughters to the hospital on April 6th to treat diarrhea, adding that one of his daughters was released from the hospital the next day while the other daughter remained admitted to the hospital due to wrong injection by untrained nursing staff at the hospital.

“My daughter was paralyzed after they (hospital staff) put my daughter on a ventilator for over a week and then removed her from the machine on early Sunday morning,” the father explained. “The hospital’s staff injected my daughter with an incorrect dosage of medicine due to which her condition turned critical.”
