People from both sides of the border are hailing the ground-breaking opening of a visa-free Kartarpur border corridor between India and Pakistan on social media. On 28th November, the Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa along with the Indian delegation laid the foundation of Kartarpur Corridor.
The Indian delegation led by former cricketer and politician Navjoth Singh Sidhu attended the ceremony on the invitation of Government of Pakistan. A large number of Sikh community members also traveled to Pakistan with the delegation to witness the historic moment of opening of Kartarpur Corridor.
The Kartarpur Corridor will facilitate the thousands of Sikh Pilgrims that will be visiting Nankana Sahib, Pakistan to commemorate the birthday of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. Kartarpur in Pakistan holds religious reverence for the Sikh community since it was resting place for Guru Nanak in the last days of his life. The Kartarpur Corridor will shorten the travel distance for Sikh Pilgrims that have been traveling through Wagah border to Pakistan.

The people on social media are excessively discussing the implications of the opening of Kartarpur Corridor for the people and both the countries who have been in hard angle to each other for past few years. The people in India and Pakistan have rare opportunities to interact but it is anticipated by the netizens that the visa-free Kartarpur Corridor will enhance people to people contact, since it is vital to decrease the distance and hostilities for a prosperous future.
Why is everyone saying that the #KartarpuraCorridor is for Sikh pilgrims? Surely it should be for all Indians who want to go and matha teko to pay homage to #GuruNanak Devji? #waheguru #ekonkar

The most significant takeaway from @ImranKhanPTI 's speech at the #KartarpurCorridor groundbreaking: Both India and Pakistan are nuclear states. Therefore neither of us can win a war. So let's stop talking about war and explore ways and means of peace.

Above all, it is the Sikh Pilgrims that are immensely overwhelmed with the opening of Kartarpur Corridor. The Sikh Pilgrims are extending warm wishes for the Prime Minister Khan. Several Indian nationals also expressed remorse for the stiff reaction of Indian government over the call of Pakistan for peace.

Totally bizarre the logic of BJP/RSS calling Navjot Singh Sidhu a traitor for going to Kartarpur Sahib while sending two Sikh central ministers for the ceremony. We could’ve presented a better face of our democracy to Pakistan
