Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf launched its 2018 general elections campaign in a breathtaking fashion in a mammoth public gathering at the historic Minar-i-Pakistan on Sunday evening. The nation responded to Imran’s slogan of ‘Do nahi, aik Pakistan’ and despite the scorching heat of Lahore, people braved the heat & flooded the venue in thousands and made their presence felt.
After holding a rigorous membership campaign across Pakistan, PTI leader Imran Khan floated his party’s 11–point agenda which will be the blueprint to transform the fortune of 200 million people of Pakistan. PTI supporters marked the occasion with traditional zeal and hope, fervor, energy, and excitement which gripped the iconic place. PTI supporters thronged the venue from different parts of the country, chanting Party’s anthems.
The highly charged crowd roared for much-anticipated change in the country. Imran’s slogan eradicate the corruption was heard loud and clear among his die-hard admirers. This Jalsa sparked a ray of hope among those came to see their leader who delivered an impressive yet a lengthy speech which lasted an almost 2-hours.

The huge crowd and buzzing atmosphere were reminiscent of the sights of the mammoth gathering of the party on Oct 30, 2011, when the party made its presence felt for the first time and broke the two-party dominion in the country. The Greater Iqbal Park looked colorful with party’s red and green flags waving across the venue. People with their families came to support Khan.

Women participants particularly prepared for this historic and auspicious gathering. A large number of female supporters turned up with painted faces in support of PTI, wearing party scarves and caps. People of all ages participated in the event which was eagerly awaited to assess the popularity of the party which faced a turbulent journey over the past few years.
Young generation continues to support Khan and could be a decisive factor in coming elections. A large number of people were also present outside the park. Followers had set off to Lahore a day before the event. Imran had given a message to reach venue before Sunday to avoid traffic issues. The young guns of the party responded and a fair bit of crowd had even gathered on Saturday, when Imran came to see the preparation for the historic Sunday show.
Imran did not disappoint. Other senior leaders also addressed the gathering and charged the crowed with their individual perspective. Khan roared to enforce education emergency and improve health and education and eliminate corruption from his motherland. He was in for a serious business from the beginning and made it clear at the start to show patience, as he came prepared to address for a lengthy period to educate his countrymen like a university professor.

For a change Imran did not bowl any loose ball and other than a one rare occasion, he was spot on and didn’t loathe or passed insults at his opponents. PTI chief used the videos to educate people and reflect upon the achievements of Khan in cricket, and philanthropy work [Shoukat Khannam hospitals and NUML University]. During his speech, he constantly made references to his party’s achievements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

After going through a lecture-like lengthy speech, he professed on the motives and reasoning for taking up politics. He particularly emphasized on his mother’s suffering from cancer and how a couple of events, one during her illness, and second during his prolonged campaign to raise funds for the hospital, transformed him forever and convinced him to join politics.
The charismatic Khan explained his failures, stories of prolonged struggle, and challenges he faced in politics, until the fateful day of October 30, 2011, which transformed the face of politics in the country. Imran highlighted the importance of Dharna-as a peaceful protest to uproot the status quo without violence.

Finally, after a long wait, Imran delivered his 11-point agenda which can potentially uplift this country. Imran has emphasized to change the fortunes of his countrymen by generating taxes and starting technical education projects and universities, which could increase employment across Pakistan.
