The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government announced on Saturday the formation of a commission to conduct a transparent investigation into the Bannu incident, which resulted in the deaths of at least four people and injuries to several others.
This decision follows a firing incident during a protest rally in the Bannu district against the deteriorating law and order situation. The protest, initiated by the local trader community, involved a complete shutdown of businesses, with demonstrators demanding action against armed groups operating in the area.

Many injuries also occurred due to the ensuing stampede.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken note of the situation and ordered the creation of a commission to ensure a transparent investigation into the incident, stated Advisor on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif.
The advisor emphasized that the commission will conduct an impartial investigation, and its findings will be made public. Legal actions will be taken against those found responsible. He urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors and unverified allegations before the report is released.
Barrister Saif noted that security is typically heightened in sensitive areas, highlighting that the sensitive nature of the Bannu Cantonment area contributed to the incident. He advised the public to remain vigilant amid the current wave of terrorism.
