Tomb Raider is coming up with a reboot following the famous films that swept away audiences across the globe when Angelina Jolie was cast as the infamous Lara Croft who was the console gaming world’s most beloved and celebrated female character.
The film has been directed by Roar Uthag who has taken it upon himself to reinvent the entire franchise along with transforming the characters from simple to highly complexed individuals.
It is scheduled to be released on March 16th in IMAX 3D in theatres across the world. The game, Tomb Raider created by Studio Enix in the 1990s, was a revolutionary advance in video games with mind-blowing graphics and a larger than life character in the form of Lara Croft who fought off supernatural enemies.
The game was so successful and gained such tremendous popularity that Warner Brothers decided to turn it into a movie. The game was given a complete makeover in 2013 and the new Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander is based upon the new game that has ushered in a new and more radical Lara Croft than the previous games.
The movie is a fast-paced action-adventure thriller that follows a fiery and independent Lara Croft on a journey down memory lane in which she retraces her father’s footsteps in order to solve the mystery of his death. At the beginning of the film, the radical new version of Lara Croft is extremely rebellious and is living a life as a bike courier in East London, adamant upon the fact that she will not take over her eccentric father’s global empire.

However, in a moment of impact and high emotional intensity, a situation is created which forces her to leave everything she has ever known in search of a fabled tomb on a mythological island somewhere off the coast of Japan.
Like all Warner Brother productions, a high-intensity moment sets the entire movie in motion creating a world of larger than life action sequences, plots and themes that ultimately transform her personal mission of finding out the reason for her father’s death, into a global one in which the fate of the world rests in her hand and her ability to unearth the secrets of the tomb.
The movie will inspire anyone who watches it because the stakes have never been as high for Lara Croft as they are in the Tomb Raider reboot where she fights against all the treacherous obstacles that come her way.
Ian Milham, a specialist hired to work on the film, said “Lara Croft is a legend in action-adventure gaming and a pillar of the industry.” Movie lovers and critics are both excited and nervous about Warner Brothers decision of replacing Angelina Jolie with Alicia Vikander as audiences have grown extremely attached and familiar with Jolie in that specific role.
However, the changing dynamics of the global trends, the radical transformations in the theme and plot of the new video game and the changing tastes of worldwide audiences are all substantial reasons for the producers and directors to cast a newer and younger actress playing the role of Croft.
Dominic West plays Lara Croft’s father and Daniel Wu plays Ru Len who helps Croft fulfill her mission. The cast is talented and versatile and all the characters in the movie are eccentric, adventurous and thrill-seekers adding an element of surprise to every segment of the film.
