Latif Khosa from PPP announces joining PTI at Imran Khan’s request

In a statement, Khosa emphasized that his move was driven by the interest of the country and democracy, pledging to raise his voice for the truth.

On Sunday, dissatisfied Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sardar Latif Khosa announced his decision to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), citing the expressed desire of imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan. In a statement, Khosa emphasized that his move was driven by the interest of the country and democracy, pledging to raise his voice for the truth.

At a subsequent press conference in Lahore, Khosa expressed hope for an end to the politics of hatred and underscored the importance of adhering to the Constitution for the prosperity of the nation. He asserted that whenever the Constitution deviated, the state and the country suffered, advocating for its implementation in its true spirit.

Khosa attributed the idea of Pakistan to Barrister Muhammed Iqbal and its completion to Barrister Muhammed Ali Jinnah. He highlighted the role of the armed forces not only in protecting borders but also in assisting the state during emergencies such as floods or elections.

Khosa, dedicating his services to the PTI, refrained from discussing his gains or losses in the PPP and called for an end to the perceived oppression of PTI founder Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated since August. The timing of Khosa’s decision coincides with a period of exodus from the PTI, with leaders like Pervez Khattak, Asad Umar, and Shireen Mazari already parting ways due to incidents triggered by Khan’s arrest.

Khosa, a member of Khan’s legal team, previously disclosed that he was invited to join the PTI by the party founder. Earlier, on September 22, the PPP suspended Khosa’s party membership for not responding to a show-cause notice related to his defense of the PTI head without prior approval.

The notice mentioned Khosa’s criticism of the state policy on the cipher issue and warned of party membership termination if no reply was received within the specified timeframe.
