Latif Khosa’s house attacked in Lahore, driver injured

Latif Khosa said unidentified persons opened fire at his residence, which was so intense that bullets penetrated the main gate and hit the cars parked inside the house due to which his driver got injured.

Unidentified armed men opened fire at former governor Punjab and senior lawyer Latif Khosa’s house in Defence area of Lahore late Thursday night, resulting in his driver getting injured.

According to the details provided by Latif Khosa who remained unhurt, unidentified persons opened fire at his residence, which was so intense that bullets penetrated the main gate and hit the cars parked inside the house due to which his driver got injured.

SP Cantt Owais Shafique along with a heavy contingent of police reached the house of former Governor Punjab Latif Khosa after the firing incident.

Latif Khosa’s driver was shifted to hospital, where his statement is being recorded by the police. The CCTV footage is also being reviewed for the arrest of the attackers.

Following the attack, senior lawyer Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan reached Latif Khosa’s house to express solidarity with him. Ahsan demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers.

It remains unclear why Latif Khosa’s house was attacked. However, the senior lawyer said that the attack happened after his fiery speech at the All Pakistan Lawyers’ Convention, where he talked about the need to uphold the rule of law and honouring the constitution.

 

Pertinent to mention that Latif Khosa has been very vocal in his criticism of the PDM government. In April, he was removed as PPP’s legal wing president.

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has removed Sardar Latif Khosa as the president of People’s Lawyer Forum. A notification was also issued by the PPP Chairman Secretariat through his political secretary.

According to sources, the PPP leadership was not happy with recent interviews of Latif Khosa and his criticism of the PDM government especially on the PML-N on judicial matters.
