Leading Turkish actor from Dirilis Ertugrul passed away

Fans in Pakistan and Turkey appreciated him for his flawless performance. His character was cherished for bravery and immense loyalty to Ertugrul Bey.

The leading actor, Ayberk Pekcan from the Turkish series Dirilis Ertugrul, passed away after fighting lung cancer. Pekcan played the role of Ertugrul’s right-hand man, Artuk Bey. He will be buried in his hometown of Mersea.

A few days before, he had released a statement about his health and the severity of the ailment. “Dear friends… The process that started with the doctor I went to with a complaint of back pain has come to this point today. I have lung cancer. The tumor has also spread to the liver and adrenal glands. Unfortunately, this disease did not show any symptoms in its initial stages. The first day of chemotherapy… My biggest support is my family. So are my friends nearby… I will do my best to regain my health. Keep your health wishes and prayers with you. Stay well,” said Pekcan in a statement.

His co-actors from the series have been expressing condolence on his death. Ayberk Pekcan was among the delegation who had visited Pakistan with a group of other Turkish actors in January last year. Fans had expressed excitement on their arrival in Pakistan.

He appeared in the four seasons of the blockbuster series Dirilis Ertugrul (Resurrection Ertugrul) and played a protagonist in the series. Fans in Pakistan and Turkey appreciated him for his flawless performance. His character was cherished for bravery and immense loyalty to Ertugrul Bey. Fans in Pakistan have expressed sorrow for his demise.

“Our beloved Ayberk Pekcan, who added spirit to our project with his acting in our TV series Diriliş Ertuğrul, walked to Hakk. I wish God’s mercy on our brother Ayberk, who is walking too hard-to-be-ready, and I wish patience to his family and fans. Good luck to all of us,” wrote Mehmet Bozdag, producer and director of the Ertugrul series.

Ayberk Pekcan was born in 1970. He graduated from Mersin University Theatre Department. Throughout his career, he starred in many productions including Valley of Wolves.
