Two legendary women of the Pakistan TV industry, Kanwal Naseer and Haseena Moin passed away within a day on Thursday and Friday.
Moin was a renowned playwright of Pakistan who was known for the strong portrayal of women in her serials. She is known for writing classic serials like Tanhaiyaan, Ankahi, and Dhoop Kinaray. The cause of her death was not immediately announced. Meanwhile, Twitter has been flooded with messages of condolences.
Social media users are paying rich tribute to the iconic personality of the Pakistani TV industry. She was last seen in the event of Pakistan Day at Arts Council in Karachi. A day before that she had visited the Arts Council for the vaccination against COVID-19.

She had started writing in her teenage, during her 20s she wrote skits for Studio Number Nau, however, it was with her long plays for PTV that set her apart.

Another legendary woman of Pakistan, Kanwal Naseer, 73, was the first presenter and anchor in Pakistan who started her career with the state television of Pakistan. Naseer was the first voice of Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan. She passed away on Thursday in Islamabad after a brief illness.
Both were recipients of Pakistan’s highest civilian honor, the Pride of Performance award for their outstanding contributions to the arts and Pakistani society.

She was suffering from diabetes and was being treated at a private hospital for the past few days. She was the daughter of legendary actor Mohini Hameed (Apa Shamim) and mother-in-law of PTI’s Secretary Information, Ahmed Jawad. She was born in 1948 in Lahore. Recently, she said that there were only three things in her life-home, school, and radio.

Heartfelt tribute and appreciation poured in for legendary Kanwal Naseer on social media with several government dignitaries like Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, paying her rich tribute. Actors including Humayun Saeed and others offered heartfelt condolences to the family of Naseer.
Both the women were the recipient of the prestigious Pride of Performance Award from the government of Pakistan for their services to Pakistan.
