Major Hercharn Singh, the first Sikh officer to be commissioned in the Pakistan Army tied the knot on Sunday at the Gurdwara Puja Sahib in Hasan Abdal.
A number of retired and serving army officers attended the wedding. Inter Services Public Relation tweeted the photos of the wedding on their official social media accounts.

In his message Chief of Army Staff General, Qamar Jawed Bajwa extended heartiest congratulations to the couple and expressed good wishes for their matrimonial life.

According to the media wing of the Armed force, Hercharn Singh was commissioned in Pakistan Army in 2007.
Pakistan Army remains a symbol of national integration and respects the rights of religious minorities in Pakistan, the ISPR statement added.
Former Chief of Army Staff Gen (r) Ashfaq Pervaiz, Chairman Wapda Lt. Gen (r) Muzamil Hussain, Chairman Evacuee trust property board Sadeequl Farooq, Lt-Gen (r) Ali Qulli Khan, Lt-Gen (r) Azhar Abbas all attended the wedding.
In a colorful wedding event, Sikh youth performed a traditional sport, Gotka.
Many people have expressed their warm to the wishes and appreciated the humble gesture by the Pakistan Army.
This, however, has uncovered a peaceful image of Pakistan in the international media.

The detractors have relentlessly called Pakistan an extremist state with zero tolerance towards the minorities.
Such representation of minorities in one of the strongest institutions of the country may help transform the negative perceptions held against Pakistan.
People now hope this positive trend will continue to blossom and will bring in the much-needed social cohesion in Pakistani society as well.
