For the third consecutive year, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has won ‘Company of the Year’ award. Also, this year the company has also bagged ‘Fastest Growing Company of the Year’ for the consecutive 2nd year and ‘RCCI Premier Award’ for the first time at 31st Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) International Achievement Awards 2018. The awards were conferred at an upscale ceremony held in Baku, Azerbaijan, a press release issued by the company’s media handle said.
The awards were organized by the RCCI in order to acknowledge the performance of local businesses and businessmen and their contributions in strengthening Pakistan’s economy. The awards also promote healthy competition among local businesses and act as catalyst for trade activities. Arranging awards ceremonies in other countries also help in improving bilateral trade and promoting soft image of Pakistan.
The strategic cooperation between the two oil and gas exploration companies implies exploring business opportunities in upstream exploration and production projects within and outside Pakistan including farm-in opportunities and pursuit of shale potential in Pakistan.
MPCL has also been raising the bar in Corporate Social Responsibility. Earlier this month, it was announced that hockey trials held by Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) came to a close at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad, Global Village Space earlier reported. For Mari Petroleum Hockey Team a group of thirty-six young and promising hockey players from all over the nation has been combined into an imposing hockey team. Selected out of a group of sixty finalists from Gojra, Faisalabad, Lahore, and Islamabad, the aspiring hockey team will be competing on the national stage by the first week of August.

Speaking to a local publication, Brigadier Saleem Nawaz, ex-Director General for Army Sports, mentioned that MPCL had initiated its Hockey Team as an incentive to motivate domestic hockey to greater heights. With CEO and Managing Director for MPCL, Lieutenant General Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad (retd), at the helm, the initiative tested its young participants in terms of fitness, skill, and mental attitude.
A total of over 270 players took part in the 4-day event which was hosted by MPCL dignitaries and presided over by a bunch of experts including former Golden Player and Hockey senior; Manzoor-ul-Hassan celebrated ex-goalkeeper; Mr. Saleem Sherwani, and former Olympian; Mr. Ayaz Rasool. Brig. Saleem Nawaz and former National Hockey team manager; Lt Col Mohsin Ali (Retd) were also in attendance.

In March this year, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) and a Polish oil & gas exploration company, PolskieGórnictwoNaftoweIGazownictwo SA (PGNiG), signed a strategic cooperation initiative for evaluating future potential business opportunities in local & international upstream exploration & production projects.

The Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation was signed by Lt Gen (r) Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad, MD/CEO MPCL, and Przemyslaw Krogulec, MD PGNiG, at MPCL head office in Islamabad.
