Maryam criticised for mishandling of differently-abled boy during rally

The video is making rounds on social media. Several netizens call it an unsettling video as they believe it was a mere publicity stunt to take a differently abled person on stage to meet Maryam Nawaz.

PMLN’s Chief organizer Maryam Nawaz is slammed for mistreating a differently-abled boy during the event of Youm-e-Takbeer at Liberty Chowk in Lahore on Sunday.

Videos making rounds on social media show that the organizers of the rally brought a differently abled person in a wheelchair to meet Maryam Nawaz. The wheelchair was placed beside Maryam Nawaz on a crowded stage. Maryam shook hands with her and according to some netizens she perhaps even tried to make him stand.

Later on, the PMLN workers lifted his wheelchair slightly up in the air which caused the boy to go off balance a little. The workers failed to handle him carefully. Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz stood on the stage and did not pay attention to how the boy was handled by the workers.

The video is making rounds on social media. Several netizens call it an unsettling video as they believe it was a mere publicity stunt to take a differently abled person on stage to meet Maryam Nawaz. It was insensitive and the PMLN leadership should have been careful while dealing with the differently abled boy. Social media users believe the video and behavior of Maryam Nawaz left bad optics for the party.

The same Liberty Chowk rally was also discussed due to its low attendance. To the disappointment of the PML-N, the event witnessed a notably low turnout, leading to comparisons with its political rival PTI which regularly attracts thousands of enthusiastic supporters to its rallies across the country.

According to images and videos shared online, Maryam Nawaz’s Lahore rally did not meet the expected turnout. It is estimated that only a fraction of the anticipated attendees showed up, raising questions about PML-N’s current public support.

The low turnout at Maryam Nawaz’s Lahore rally has inevitably sparked comparisons to the political rallies organized by the PTI at the same venue. As news of the low turnout at Maryam Nawaz’s rally spread, Twitter became abuzz with comments from netizens, including journalists and PTI leaders.
