PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz demands answers from former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, asking who pressured him to convict her and her father Nawaz Sharif in the Avenfield Apartments reference.
During a press conference in Islamabad, Maryam Nawaz directly addressed Saqib Nisar and demanded that he come forth and tell the nation whom it was that he “could not refuse.”
“Whether today or tomorrow, you will have to tell the nation the truth. There is still time. Come forth, tell the nation who pressured you to sentence Nawaz Sharif if it was unwarranted? Who pressured you to sentence Maryam Nawaz, if it was without merit. And who told you that Imran Khan needs to be brought to power?” Maryam Nawaz said.
“Who was it that you could not refuse, despite being the chief justice of Pakistan at the time?” Maryam Nawaz further asked.
Important to note, Maryam’s statements come after the recent debacle of Saqib Nisar’s leaked audiotape.

Moreover, Maryam Nawaz said “I want Saqib Nisar to conduct a forensic audit, face the law and build a dam from the money he gets after winning the case,” she said, calling upon the judiciary.
Saqib Nisar’s leaked audiotape
Earlier, an audiotape surfaced where a man is allegedly giving instructions to detain Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif to make space for Imran Khan in politics.
“Let me be a little blunt about it. Unfortunately, here it is the institutions that dictate judgments. In this case, we will have to punish Mian Sahab (Nawaz Sharif). [I] have been told we have to bring Khan sahab (Imran Khan) [into power],” the man in the audiotape said.
Reports stated that the voice belonged to former-CJP Saqib Nisar who categorically denied that the voice is his. Moreover, further reports emerged claiming that the audio clip was fabricated by joining parts from Saqib Nisar’s speeches.

Interestingly, Garret Discovery, a US firm that conducted a forensic analysis of the alleged audio clip for FactFocus insists that it met all professional requirements. Furthermore, according to sources, Garret Discovery denied that the audio clip went through any editing.
Regarding this, Maryam Nawaz said there is propaganda to prove the audio clip as fake “despite a very renowned American company doing the forensic analysis.”
