Maryam Nawaz slams PM Khan for serving show-cause notice to PTI MNAs

Earlier today, PTI served show-cause notices to 14 of its MNAs for joining hands with the Opposition. Reacting to the show-cause notice, Maryam Nawaz called the prime minister a "burden" that no one can bear anymore.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has lashed out at PM Imran Khan for his party’s move to send show-cause notices to dissident MNAs. In a series of tweets, the PML-N leader heavily criticized PM Khan.

Earlier today, PTI served show-cause notices to 14 of its MNAs for joining hands with the Opposition. The MNAs who received the notices include Raja Riaz, Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan, Nawab Sher, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Ahmed Hussain Deharr, Abdul Ghafar Wattoo and Noor Alam Khan.

The show-cause notice demands MNAs to submit an unconditional apology and rejoin the party ranks within seven days. Failing to do so will result in legal action against them. However, if the MNAs wish to leave the party, then they must resign.

Reacting to the show-cause notice, Maryam Nawaz called the prime minister a “burden” that no one can bear anymore.

“Before issuing show-cause notices to others, respond to the show-cause notices that the whole nation has given to you. By pushing all of Pakistan into poverty, inflation, unemployment, and humiliation have you left any worker of yours in a condition to face the public?” the PML-N leader questioned, obviously referring to PM Khan.

In another tweet, Maryam Nawaz addressed the lawmakers and said they have only two options facing them.

“There are two ways for public representatives, the first is to stand with the people. The second is to sink into your [PM Khan] sinking ship and become part of a history of disgrace and disgrace,” Maryam Nawaz tweeted.

The number game

Lastly, Maryam Nawaz hit out at the allegedly low number of MNAs left with PM Khan and said there is no point in clinging to power now.

“If according to you, fourteen members have left you and you have issued show-cause notices to them, it means that 165 members have remained in the 342-member House. It is as if you have lost the majority. What is the benefit of clinging to power now?” Maryam Nawaz tweeted.

To pass the no-trust motion, the Opposition needs the backing of 172 MNAs. The ruling coalition had 179 MNAs in favor, while the Opposition had 162 MNAs in the lower house of parliament.
