PML-N leader, Maryam Nawaz, garnered mockery on social media when she was spotted posting a fake image of the former premier, Nawaz Sharif, standing in Kashmir on Saturday.
Maryam Nawaz is spearheading an aggressive election campaign in Azad Jammu Kashmir for the upcoming elections. She posted a picture of herself and her father Nawaz Sharif standing beside a river in Kashmir in Keran Valley. Netizens spotted that picture of Nawaz Sharif was fake.
A group of netizens posted ostensibly the real image of Nawaz Sharif standing in London in a similar dress and pose. Social media users started trolling the PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz for apparently posting a fake picture.

“Old relationship with Kashmir”, Maryam Nawaz captioned the picture. Soon the users posted hilarious comments under her tweet. Some even posted memes on Nawaz Sharif following the social media gaffe by Maryam Nawaz. Maryam Nawaz seems to have deleted the tweet now.
Maryam Nawaz’s embarrassing social media faux passes
It was a bid by Maryam Nawaz to project a strong bond with the people of Kashmir that miserably failed with the fake image of Nawaz Sharif. In her recent speech, she highlighted her family connections with Kashmir.
She even wore a traditional antique Kashmiri necklace which she said local people gifted her during her visit.

This is not the first time, Maryam Nawaz has been caught up in embarrassing social media faux passes. In the past, she has several times posted content to criticize the present government of PTI that turned out to be a humiliation for themselves.
Back in December 2020, Maryam Nawaz deleted a video clip claiming that former PM Nawaz Sharif had attempted to normalize ties with Israel.
To malign Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf and Prime Minister Imran Khan, Maryam ended up exposing Nawaz Sharif’s efforts to normalize ties with Israel in another Twitter faux pas.
The deleted tweet had a small video clip of Noor Dahri, a researcher, with Israeli news channel i24. Dahri in his interview asserted that an advisor of PM Imran Khan had traveled to Tel Aviv on a British passport, to discuss the normalization of ties with Israel.

Dahri said that the advisor of PM Khan has reached Tel Aviv with a special message. He did not name the advisor.

In the latter part of the video, Dahri had talked about the efforts made by former Pakistani premiers, Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto, to begin diplomatic relations with Israel. “Looking at history, Nawaz Sharif sent two delegations to Israel to normalize relations,” said Dahri. Dahri said that Nawaz had sent two delegations to Israel to build up ties. It seems that Maryam Nawaz did not listen to the other part of the video.
However, after realizing the gaffe, Maryam Nawaz swiftly took down the tweet. Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of PTI posted a screenshot of her tweet.
Back in 2019, she inadvertently called her party ‘ineligible’ and ‘incompetent’ in a tweet. In her rashness to undermine the government of PM Khan, Maryam Nawaz shared a video of Hajj pilgrims admonishing the government for the inconvenience in Hajj operations.
Assuming the video is of the current Pakistani pilgrims, she censured PM Khan for the insufficient arrangement of facilities. Maryam Nawaz shared the video with a comment of ‘OH MY GOD!’, an emoji expressing her repentance for tormenting the pilgrims on a sacred journey.
