Pakistan’s Muslim League leader, Maryam Nawaz became a grandmother as her daughter gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday. She announced this on twitter in response to a question asked regarding her absence in the recent PML—N rally. She attributed her absence to the birth of her granddaughter.
Her daughter, Mehr-un-Nisa Safdar got married to Raheel Munir, son of the renowned businessman Chaudhary Munir in December 2015. Later, in regard to the newborn, Maryam Nawaz took to Twitter and thanked her followers for sending the warm wishes. She wrote, ‘thank you all for your good wishes and prayers on the birth of my granddaughter. Allah is very kind.’Her photo of carrying a baby girl went viral, however, the first official look of the baby girl is yet to be revealed.
It is no surprised that the international publication New York Times named her the among the 11 most powerful women of the world.
The news is a source of great joy as the family has been dwindling with consecutive setbacks on the political front. The good news arrived while the family has been battling personal hardships as well. Maryam Nawaz Sharif has, on several occasions, expressed her sorrow for her mother Kulsoom Nawaz’s ailment as she is suffering from cancer and has been under treatment for nearly a year in the UK.

Currently, the duo – the father and daughter – are busy these days in public rallies and processions. Maryam and Nawaz Sharif are publically attacking the institutions of Pakistan in their aggressive speeches. In regard to this, she is known for being a strong critic of her opponents.
