A rogue person used the McDonald’s Twitter account on Thursday, and tweeted to President Trump calling him “a disgusting excuse of a President”.
The tweet was very quickly deleted from the verified @McDonaldsCorp account said: “@RealDonaldTrump You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President and we would love to have @BarackObama back, also you have tiny hands.”
The tweet was sent early USA time and was deleted by the organization a few minutes later. In this time, whoever was in control of the account pinned it to the top of @McDonaldsCorp’s Twitter page.
President Trump is a big McDonald’s fan. After winning the Republican party’s presidential nomination in May 2016, he celebrated with a McDonald’s meal on his plane, as seen on his Instagram:
Twitter users were scrambling to see the tweet before it was taken down. Most understood it was a hacking job although speculation was rife that it could have been done by a McDonalds disgruntled employee.
Although many people found the whole matter amusing, immediately after the tweet, some Trump supporters began to tweet about instigating a boycott.
McDonald’s later tweeted that its account had been “compromised” and that it was investigating the matter.
Twitter notified us that our account was compromised. We deleted the tweet, secured our account and are now investigating this.

The hacking comes just one day after hundreds of Twitter accounts including Justin Beiber’s and Forbes were hacked.
