Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat vouched for a fair trial for former Pakistani president General Pervez Musharraf in her latest tweet.
The actress shared the video of the former president appealing for a fair trial from the hospital room in which he is admitted for treatment.
Let’s put politics aside for one moment. This man was our President & guided us through some every difficult times. Like him or loathe him, he deserves the opportunity to be heard. At least we can grant him that dignity. After all does the law not say”Innocent till proven guilty”? pic.twitter.com/ys2Sbyph64

General Musharraf’s plea
In the video shared by Mehwish Hayat, former President Musharraf is heard asking for his right to defend the case in the court.
He said that a commission must be formed that would visit him and confirm his sickness.
He complains that he is being denied fair justice since the court has not listened to his lawyer in the case and is about to give the verdict without listening to him.
He recalled that he is not a traitor but he has served Pakistan for many years including fighting many wars for the country as a soldier. He declared the treason case against him as ‘baseless’.

He said he has been seriously ill for a very long time. General Musharraf added that he has been admitted to hospital after he fainted.
Hayat received an onslaught of criticism on her tweet with a prominent user Amjad Malik posting a photo of former Asif Ali Zardari below her tweet asserting that either there should be mercy for both or impunity to both.
The socially woke actress and receiver of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Mehwish Hayat dissed Malik by saying that she only wants General Musharraf to be given a chance to be heard. The decision to exonerate or charge him rests with the court.
However, not only Mehwish Hayat but Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry also supported General Pervez Musharraf. He called him his friend and nation’s benefactor.
“When Musharraf was in power, a lot of people used to stand queuing up to light his cigar,” he added.
It is noteworthy to mention that, Chaudhry once was part of Musharraf’s political party ‘All Pakistan Muslim League’.
Nobody is above the law, all that I am saying is give him a chance to be heard at least. Guilt or otherwise is the decision of the courts.
