Meta AI gets a dedicated screen in WhatsApp’s latest update

While no official release date has been announced, it will be made available in a future WhatsApp update for Android users.

WhatsApp is working on a major update that will revolutionize how users interact with its Meta AI chatbot. The update, currently in development, will introduce a dedicated Meta AI screen, allowing users to communicate with the AI more seamlessly and efficiently. According to WABetaInfo, this feature is being tested in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.5.22 update and will be rolled out in a future release.

More Convenient Access to Meta AI

With the new Meta AI screen, users will be able to launch the chatbot instantly by long-pressing the Meta AI floating action button from the chat list. This eliminates the need to manually open a chat to interact with the AI. Users can also issue voice commands directly, making the process quicker and more intuitive.

Once activated, the chatbot will begin listening immediately, allowing users to give voice instructions without additional steps. For those who prefer text-based interactions, switching between voice and text will be seamless, with a simple tap on the microphone button or by entering text in the input field.

Enhanced Privacy and Security Measures

Privacy remains a top priority with this update. Meta AI will only listen to users’ voice commands when the dedicated screen is open, ensuring that it does not operate in the background or record unintended conversations.

To further enhance transparency, Android OS will display a privacy indicator in the status bar whenever Meta AI is actively listening. Since this indicator is controlled by the operating system, no app—including WhatsApp—can manipulate or hide it. This measure reassures users that their privacy is protected while interacting with the chatbot.

Customizable Voice Settings for a Personalized Experience

Another key feature of the dedicated Meta AI screen is the ability to customize the chatbot’s voice settings directly from the interface. This means users will no longer have to navigate through different menus or the chatbot info screen to configure the AI’s voice, making personalization easier than ever.

Why This Update Matters

This development aligns with WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI-powered features while ensuring user convenience and control. By creating a standalone Meta AI screen, WhatsApp is making chatbot interactions more intuitive, private, and customizable.

Users will no longer need to manually enter a chat to select a mode of interaction—the AI will be ready to assist immediately upon opening the dedicated screen. This feature is expected to enhance user engagement with the AI assistant, making it a more integral part of daily conversations.
