After 7 months of being teased about the car, Pakistanis have finally seen a real MG 5 in Pakistan.
This happened on 17th August when a video started doing rounds on social media showing a yellow car on a car trailer. It is a welcome first step by the company to give people some reassurance, however guaranteeing nothing right now.
The car blogs are of the view that one unit of MG5 has been imported to test and trial on Pakistan’s roads.
How did it begin?
On 3rd FebruaryJaved Afridi, the CEO of JW Automobile Pakistan which is the local partner of MG went to Twitter asking people to recommend a price for the Sedan, and posting the specs of the car.

MG 5 overview
MG 5 was launched in September 2020 and since then the D-segment sedan has garnered much attention for the amazing features that it has.
According to a car blog, MG 5 carries the compact-sedan torch for the brand, taking over from the older MG 350. But can a low price and a high equipment list guaranteed success in a shrinking sedan market.
Engine
In the international market, the sedan comes fitted with two engine options. While both options have a 1.5-liter SAIC 4-cylinder 16-valve, the transmission is different. The smaller one is naturally aspirated capable of producing 119 hp with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The slightly more powerful transmission is turbo-charged capable of producing 173 hp with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior
This sedan’s front-end gives a sleek look with its chrome-plated grille in the center, holding the MG logo in it and two diamond-cut headlights on its sides. On the other hand, the rear-end is equally attractive with a similar design as the previous models. The electric sunroof makes the MG 5 sedan feel spacious, adding bright light to the cabin and giving it an impressive style.
It has functions like a Bi-function projection headlight, Front and rear aero wiper, Auto headlights, LED daytime running lights, Follow me home headlights, to name a few.
Interior and infotainment
The car is as tech-savvy as it is luxurious on the inside. According to the car blog fairwheels, the higher-end trim has leather seats, and the rest of the car is fitted with higher quality materials compared to the lower trim. Additionally, the driver’s seat comes with a six-way power adjustment.
On the infotainment front, the sedan features a 10.1 inches touchscreen display mounted on the dashboard which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
Other top-of-the-line features in the MG5 include the keyless entry, cruise control, rear-view camera, push-start button, Inkalink media system, Steering wheel mounted audio controls, and electronic climate control.
Safety
According to Fairwheels, the sedan has been awarded five stars by European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) rating that ensures the passengers a safe ride.
The MG-5 sedan comes fitted with features like Hill-Start Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, tire pressure monitoring system, airbags, ISOFIX child seats, ABS, and Curve Brake Control. The high-strength steel cage body of MG-5 is designed-especially to prevent maximum loss in accidents.
