Mickey Arthur expected to be removed as Pakistan Cricket Team director

Transitioning to County Cricket, Arthur assumed the coaching role for Derbyshire but faced immense challenges, as the team failed to secure a single victory in Division 2.

Team Director Mickey Arthur expected to part ways with the Pakistan Cricket Team in the aftermath of Pakistan’s underwhelming performance in the ICC World Cup 2023.

The disappointing performance of the Pakistan Cricket Team has shaken the fans and the board alike. Disgruntled fans are questioning the performances of the team and the skills of the coaching staff. Other coaching staff are also expected to lose their jobs including head coach Grant Bradburn and batting coach Andrew Puttick.

PCB is mulling over appointing domestic coaches for the improvement of performance of the team.

Fans were amused when Mickey Arthur replaced the coaching staff who has a track record of unsuccessful bouts with various teams in his coaching career. In his present bout with the Pakistan Cricket Team, Pakistan failed to put up a convincing performance in the ICC ODI Men’s World Cup 2023.

A list of teams who failed when Arthur coached them includes PSL’s franchise Karachi Kings. Salman Iqbal’s team consistently put low performance and remained the least competitive side of the tournament.

Back in 2021, Mickey Arthur was appointed as the coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team. The team failed to qualify for the first round of the T20 World Cup. Subsequently, he took charge of the Dambulla Aura team in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), guiding them to a dismal finish at the bottom of the table.

Pakistan won the Champions Trophy 2017 after Pakistan defeated India in the final of the tournament by a heavy margin. However, at that time, the Pakistan team was led by Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Previous PCB Chairman Najam Sethi has reinstated him. Unfortunately, he couldn’t produce the desired results as Pakistan failed to reach the semifinal of the World Cup 2023.

Pakistan lost four consecutive matches against India, Australia, Afghanistan and South Africa which solidified the call to replace Micky Arthur with some competent coaching staff.
