In news from India, Nihang Sikhs reportedly admit to brutally murdering a man. A video of the Nihang Sikhs surrounding the half-dead man went viral on social media. The graphic video shows the group first chopped off the man’s hand then decided to hang him.
Friday, locals found a man dead in Kundli, Sonipat, the hot spot for the farmer’s protest. His hand was chopped off and he was hung from a barricade at the farmer’s protesting site. The police could not find any leads.
“There is no information on who’s responsible. An FIR has been lodged against an unknown person,” DSP Hansraj said.

However, later on, a video appeared on social media. In the video, Nihang Sikhs stood around the man and raised slogans “Jo Bole Sau Nihal Sat Shri Akaal.” Meanwhile, an old Nihang Sikh cleaned the blood off his sword as the man clung to life.
“Go and hang him outside. People should know what will happen [to those who disrespect Guru Granth Sahib Ji],” someone said in the background.

According to reports, the Nihang Sikhs carried out the horrific deed because the man disrespected Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the holy religious scripture of Sikhism. In short, the Nihang Sikhs alleged that the man received Indian Rs. 30,000 to disrespect Guru Granth Sahib Ji. As a result, they killed him.

Modi’s India brimming with hate
Indian social media users are in shock over the manner of execution. They called it “Taliban style” as extremist groups are notorious for chopping off limbs as a form of punishment.
“Condemn gruesome murder at Singhu. No crime justifies acts one associates with ISIS/Al Qaeda or vigilantism in Pakistan. SKM needs to take a reasoned position and isolate elements that are not committed to peaceful protest,” K.C. Singh, former Indian Diplomat, and Strategic Affairs Expert said on Twitter.

Interesting to note, under RSS-inspired and BJP-led Modi government, hate crimes are increasing in India. Either it is the Muslims who are suffering at the hands of the extremists, or it is the Sikhs who are carrying vigilantism against blasphemy. One thing is for sure, religious intolerance is certainly on the rise in India.

Moreover, the Nihang Sikhs strongly support the farmer’s protest. They self-appointed themselves as the first line of defense in a showdown between farmers and the Modi government.
“Modi’s government turned against our farmers and laborers,” a Nihang leader said. “If someone tries to attack us, we will defend ourselves.”
In addition, the Sikh community is enraged with the Modi government. To clarify, the Modi government introduced unfavorable laws against the Sikhs. It also carried out the killings of Sikhs on numerous occasions.
