Momina Mustehsan honoured as influential 40 Under 40 in New York

Pakistan’s singing sensation Momina Mustehsan has been honored by New York’s Stony Brook University’s most successful graduate under the age of 40. She was given this accolade in the category of civil service and activism in its Fourth Annual Under 40′ ceremony in New York.

Momina Mustehsan attained her degree in Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics from Stony Brook University in 2015.

“I am supremely humbled to receive the Under Forty honor by Stony Brook University in the category of Civil Service and Activism,” said Momina. Receiving the award from the President of the University Samuel L. Stanley and Alumni Association President Bedel Saget.

Momina further added, “I proudly wore my Pakistani flag [while accepting the award], right above the Stony Brook pin – two major parts of my identity.”

Momina Mustehsan also represented Pakistan, last year in BBC’s 100 Women Challenge. She was featured on the list as one of the ‘impactful and energetic’ women in the world.

Though her selection in the list met with mixed response from people. Many celebrated her achievement, while, others questioned her credibility on being included in the list.

She first came to prominence as the co-singer and writer in 2012 in Farhan Saeed‘s single “Pee Jaun” and recorded her first studio song “Sajna” for Junoon‘s album Junoon 20.  However, her real public fame came in 2016 after her first flick in Coke Studio’s Season 9 alongside Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Since then she has been celebrated for her exceptional singing skills and other times for her confidence and beauty.

Though her singing career is still in its incipient phase, Momina Mustehsan is already very popular as a brand endorser.

She has also been made part of various campaigns organized by UN Women. Momina Mushtehsan has taken on the mantle of women’s leadership role in a vacuum that exist in Pakistan.

With the right amount of confidence the 25-year old actress soon can become a role model for the next generation to follow.
