Mother of collapse: India lost 6 wickets on 11 balls against South Africa

The remaining batting lineup of India shockingly failed to survive the lethal bowling attack of South Africa. The collapse was unexpected and shocking for Indian cricket fans and commentators.

In what can be called a mother of collapse, India lost its six wickets for 0 runs on a mere 11 balls in the second Test match against South Africa in Capetown.

India were 4 wickets down on 154 runs. The remaining batting lineup of India shockingly failed to survive the lethal bowling attack of South Africa.

The collapse was unexpected and shocking for Indian cricket fans and commentators. The entire team returned to the pavilion within 5-10 minutes. Hilarious comments and memes have emerged on social media since then.

The downfall in batting commenced when Lungi Ngidi removed KL Rahul for 9 in the 34th over, leaving India at 153 for 4. Subsequently, in the same over, Ngidi claimed the wickets of Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah, with both Indian batsmen exiting without contributing any additional runs.

Former Indian cricketer and commentator Ravi Shastri had a hilarious take on the batting collapse of the Indian team. While commenting on the situation, Shastri said, “Yes 153/4, 153 all out. If someone went around the corner for a dump and has come back, India has been bowled out for 153.”

“Or a drink, or whatever they have gone for. If they turned away from the game for a little bit,” cricketer-turned-commentator Pommie Mbangwa said.  Video of his commentary went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.

India has already lost the first Test against match South Africa in Centurion. The present management of the Indian cricket team is facing criticism after the squad’s innings and 32-run loss to South Africa in the initial Test at Centurion. In this match, seamers Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur faced difficulties, conceding a significant number of runs.

Ifran Pathan emphasized the necessity for India to build a strong fast bowling unit in 2024. Reflecting on the South Africa series, he pointed out the unpreparedness of the backup bowlers and highlighted the absence of Shami as a notable miss.
