Movies releasing on Eid bound to be a hit

News Desk |

With the Eid holidays looming over our heads, it is the perfect time of the year to take a look at the new upcoming Pakistani films that are going to be playing in cinemas in the next few days. As Bollywood movies are not screening in Pakistan for the next week, cinephiles will have to look into local films to satisfy their desi cravings. Luckily a bunch of star-studded movies are set to release this Eid al-Fitr.

First up is the ARY Films produced, Azaadi, which stars the veteran actor Nadeem Baig, Lollywood star Moammar Rana and the celebrated TV actress Sonya Hussain. The film centres on the Kashmir conflict with the official synopsis reading “The story of a man who sacrifices it all for the freedom of Kashmir.” The movie goes on to show  “how his vision is carried forward by the young people he inspires,” with Baig playing the man in question and Moammar Rana and Hussain playing Azaad and Zara (a British born journalist), the youngsters who become embroiled in the Kashmir conflict.

The film is being pitched as an “epic,” with cinematography being done by Ben Jasper of Bang Bang! fame. The entire film has been shot in Northen Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. And all the trailers and promos have certainly made it seem like something worth checking out.

Next in line is Mahmood Akhtar’s Na Band Na Baarat, which has been greatly anticipated ever since its cast lineup was revealed. The movie features the likes of Mikaal Zulfiqar, Shayan Khan, Nayab Khan, Komal Farooqi, Ali KazmiQavi Khan, Azra Mohiuddin, Atiqa Odho among others. It revolves around a Pakistani family living in Canada who is about to celebrate the wedding of their two sons. The film was initially set to release on June 29 but due to the Eid Ban on Indian films, the producers decided to release it on Eid.

Thirdly, we have Danish Taimoor and Jawaid Sheikh’s revenge thriller, Wajood, which marks the directorial comeback of Sheikh. The film was shot largely in Turkey as Taimoor’s character is a pilot but principal photography was also done in Pakistan and Thailand. Wajood also boasts Saeeda Imtiaz, Nadeem Baig and Aditi Singh in its cast.

Finally, there’s Saat Din Mohabbat In. The Mahira Khan-Shehreyar Munawar rom-com is set around a young man who wants to be more masculine and makes a deal with a djinn that has unforeseen consequences. The movie’s big cast includes notable names like Jawaid Sheikh, Hina Dilpazeer, Ayesha Omar, Mira Sethi and Amna Ilyas in prominent roles.

The songs released from the film have already managed to do well, hopefully, the film will only be better. Because of Mahira Khan’s ‘IT’ factor, the film has already generated much hype and seems to be the forerunner among the films. It is up to the critics and audiences to truly determine whether or not the film wins at the box office.

With such different genres coming out – from action to comedy to romance -, there is bound to be something for everyone in the family!
