Mufti Menk preaches a striking balance between worldly life and religion after a social media user called him out for enjoying himself with family in London.
Mufti Menk had posted his picture of enjoying water sports in London. Some of his followers commented and criticized him for ‘wasting time. They advised him to spend this time for the betterment of the Muslim community.
Menk responded humbly to the criticism coming in from some of his followers. “Real sheiks wouldn’t ever see your comment on social media either and take the time to reply. A few minutes spent every year doesn’t determine the genuineness or not of a person,” he wrote. “Rasulallah (Prophet Muhammad) also engaged in many recreative activities with his family. We must be balanced. Our children and family members have a right over us. Concern for the Ummah is only possible if you have concern for your own family first.”
