NAB contemplates on airlifting Nawaz, Maryam from airport to Adiala Prison

News Desk |

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to air-lift former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz from airport to Adiala Prison, upon their possible arrival on Friday (July 13) after conviction in Avenfield References.

Director General (DG) NAB Lahore in his letter to DG NAB has sought a Helicopter to airlift the convicts.

The Immigration processes will be fulfilled during the flight, the letter suggested.

The Accountability Court Judge will likely be brought into Adiala Prison to hear the case within the Prison Facility as per proposal. However, Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal will give the final decision in this respect.

NAB is contemplating to take this step due to the fear of possible law and order situation which PML-N leaders and supporters could foment to sensationalize the entire arrest fiasco. Only days earlier, Capt. Safdar, another convict in the Avenfield Reference, did the same when he along with a few supporters blocked the main Murree Road in Rawalpindi, only hours before his arrest.

Analysts opine that this was a full dress rehearsal for the upcoming arrival and arrest of Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
