Nation mourns loss of renowned anchorperson Mishal Bukhari

The news of Mishal Bukhari's sad demise triggered an outpour of reactions from fellow journalists who offered their condolences and shared their experiences of working with her. 

Pakistan is mourning the loss of renowned anchorperson Mishal Bukhari who passed away on Tuesday after losing a battle with cancer. The journalist community has expressed condolence on the sad demise of Mishal Bukhari.

Mishal, who was an award-winning broadcast journalist, was born on  July 8, 1984, in Karachi. She started her career as a news anchor on a private TV channel. She also worked for Pakistan Television.

The news of her sad demise triggered an outpour of reactions from fellow journalists who offered their condolences and shared their experiences of working with her.

“Terribly tragic news that Mishal Bukhari is no more. After a long and brave fight with cancer, she left for her eternal journey. Met her at Arshad Sharif Shaheed’s home, and saw her physically weak but pretty good in spirits. She was a wonderful person & a very experienced anchor,” anchorperson Shiffa Z. Yousafzai said.

“Sad to know about the death of Mishal Bukhari from cancer. She was Muqabil host for a while and it was a pleasure working with her. She was smart, intelligent, pretty but above all a nice human being and so full of life. You will be missed. RIP,” senior journalist Amir Mateen said.

“What terrible news to hear, what a tragic young death. Mishal Bukhari is no more. When I started my journalism career in 2007 in Express-News, she was there as a fellow colleague and a refined human. She was fighting cancer but could not survive,” journalist Rai Shahnawaz said.

The news of Mishal Bukhari’s death was shared by her husband Ameer Abbas, who is also a renowned anchorperson, on Twitter. Pakistan’s leading political leaders have also condoled the death of Mishal Bukhari.

Former deputy speaker Qasim Khan Suri offered condolences and prayed for the departed soul and her family members.

Similarly, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed grief over the sad demise of senior anchorperson Mishal Bukhari. Marriyum Aurangzeb said the services of Mishal Bukhari for the media industry would never be forgotten.
