Friday, British High Commissioner (HC) Christian Turner posted yet another picture of him picking up trash in Islamabad. However, this time around, Netizens were not impressed.
While on one of his morning hikes to Margalla Hills, the British HC posted an image of him throwing a big bag of litter in the trash can.
He uploaded the picture on Twitter while tagging and praising Deputy Commissioner Islamabad (DCI) Hamza Shafqaat. Moreover, in a bid to remind citizens of their responsibility towards their city, Christian Turner captioned the image with “Mera Kachra, meri zimmedari” (My trash, my responsibility).
The British HC is popular for collecting garbage from Margalla Hills in Islamabad. On several occasions he posted pictures of collecting heaps of garbage during his morning treks.

He directed the attention of the authorities towards the continuous problems of visitors polluting the Margalla Hills. He also raised concerns over the improper collection and disposal of garbage.
Christian Turner’s efforts for cleaner Margalla Hills gained Hamza Shafqaat’s attention. The DCI then launched a cleanliness campaign. Islamabad administration released a video of Hamza Shafqaat collecting trash in big plastic bags along with his team of volunteers with a special message for tourists not to pollute the picturesque hills.
This time, it seems as if there was comparatively less trash because Christian Turner collected only one bag. Therefore, he appreciated DCI Hamza Shafqaat and CDA.

Netizens not impressed with Christian Turner?
The netizens did not appreciate Christian Turner’s preaching. Instead of focusing on the important message, Twitteratis demanded that Christian Turner make efforts in getting Pakistan off UK’s red list first.
Lord grantham, Get Pakistan out of red list first. That is something nearly related to your actual job. Dont teach us lessons about litter. yeah we have mess but again it is our mess.

Late last month, the British government decided to keep Pakistan on the travel red list after updating its travel advisory. UK’s decision to keep Pakistan on the red list disappointed officials and the population alike.
According to them, this is prejudice against Pakistan. The country has managed its Covid situation comparatively better than India, yet it is on the red list.

Moreover, they called him out on bringing his dog to the trail as pets are not allowed in Margalla Hills. Some even made sarcastic remarks and said that Christian Turner will receive a Nobel Prize for cleaning Margalla Hills!
