Another good news for auto enthusiasts in Pakistan! Ghandhara Nissan, an authorised distributor and manufacturer of a Nissan based in Karachi, Pakistan established in 1981 is all set to introduce a new line-up of Cherry SUVs.
It has been widely reported on social media that reportedly an agreement with the Chinese auto manufacturer Chery is already in the process. Once done, Ghandhara Nissan will obtain the distribution and manufacturing rights of Chery SUVs in Pakistan.
Recently, Pakistan has seen various automobile launches, particularly in the SUV segment. The South Korean companies Hyundai and KIA launched Tucson and Sportage respectively. This was followed by the untimely launch of the British auto manufacturer based in China, MG, which unveiled its HS model. We also saw the launch of a 7-seater SUV “Glory 580 Pro” by a company called Prince which generated immense interest due to the price bracket it falls in.

Hence, the climate is already pretty tough for the upcoming SUV range by Cherry. But what could’ve been a better time of launching an SUV when auto sales are climbing by the day in the country?
Reportedly, the first SUV that will reach the Pakistani market is the compact crossover SUV Chery Tiggo 8 which runs on a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with the capacity for 156 horsepower and 230 Newton-Meters (Nm) of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT automatic transmission.
The Tiggo 8 also comes in another variant: a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 197 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

If we look towards the interior, the size of the LCD instrument is different depending on trim level. The baseline model has a 7-inch LCD instrument panel, while the top two trim level models are equipped with a 12.3-inch LCD meter.
The driver seat is electrically 6-way adjustable, and the front seats have two-stage heating function.The ergonomic H-type seat design reduces driving fatigue.

It comes with a panoramic sunroof with anti-pinch function. The area is 0.92m2 and an openable width of 421mm, enabling you to enjoy the blue sky and white cloud.
Both the variants of the Cherry Tiggo 8 are Front-Wheel-Drive only.
