Recently, Hotel One of Hashoo Group joined hands with National logistics Cell to build premium service resort hotels unde the brand name ‘Hotel One NLC Collection’. This group of hotels will be built in the scenic location of Attabad Lake, Gilgit Baltistan and later in other regions of the country. For this, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Hotel One (Pvt) Ltd. and the National Logistics Cell.
History of Attabad Lake
The lake was formed when, in January 2010, a massive landslide blocked the flow of River Hunza, creating a natural dam and burying 20 people beneath it. With constantly inflow from the river overtime, the rising water displaced thousands of residents and submerged countless villages, fields, orchards a well as a 19-kilometre stretch of the Karakoram Highway.
The resort hotel will feature a minimum of 25 rooms with a variety of cuisines that will be served to domestic and international tourists
After several measures to create a spillway for the water to recede, the situation was taken under control. It is only now that people have started returning to rebuild their homes and lives.
Attabad Lake today
Life has reinvigorated in the area and people have settled around the beautiful mountains. Several businesses have started working there to facilitate people. The turquoise lake attracts a lot of tourists, however, due to substandard lodging facilities, not many of them decide to stay there.
Only 14 kms away from Karimabad in Hunza, Attabad lake and has become one of the biggest tourist attractions in Gilgit-Baltistan offering activities like boating, jet skiing, fishing and other recreational activities.
To help expedite tourism in the area and to provide premium hospitality in one of the most picturesque locations in Pakistan, Hotel One of Hashoo Group joins hands with National Logistics Cell to construct select service resort hotels under the brand name “Hotel One NLC Collection.”

First resort of ‘Hotel One NLC Collection’ will be located at the scenic Attabad Lake. It will offer guests the modern comfort of a contemporary lifestyle. The resort hotel will feature a minimum of 25 rooms with a variety of cuisines that will be served to domestic and international tourists. As famous as the valley is for its beauty, the people of Hunza are also well-known for their friendliness and hospitality.
The General Manager, Planning and Business Development, NLC, Colonel (r) Kamran Ghafoor said, “We are proud to present opportunities for tourists to explore the Attabad region in Gilgit-Baltistan, enabling them to enjoy their stay in a modern, comfortable and exotic location. We are looking forward towards expanding this strategic partnership to other parts of the country.”
However, this not the only effort made by NLC for the betterment of life in Gilgit Baltistan. They have successfully been running a dry port in Sost for clearance, loading and unloading of material between China and Pakistan. Moreover, NLC also has several construction projects underway in the area.
One of these is the construction of Naltar road in Naltar valley, Gilgit. This is a major route for transportation in the area and is bound to help the passing local and visiting population. There is also a specialist Cardiac Hospital in Gilgit Baltistan made with the help of NLC to facilitate the living communities nearby.
NLC is also building an institute which provides vocational and technical training, courses in applied technology, diplomas in leisure and hospitality and in the field of hydropower. This is an amazing initiative taken by the National Logistics Cell to polish the skillset of our brothers and sisters in Gilgit Baltistan.

A sewage treatment plant is also one of the running projects in the list; this sewage plant is making use of a lot unused land of the region. Such ventures provide job opportunities to the local population who are always travelling away from their families to look for work.
