No, Babar Azam is not retiring from Test Cricket

A fake post of skipper Babar Azam announcing his retirement from Test cricket went viral on social media after Bangladesh white-washed Pakistan in a two-test match series.

A screenshot of the announcement of retiring from Test cricket was attributed to Pakistan’s former Test skipper Babar Azam. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Test side is being currently led by Shan Masood.

Pakistan faced an embarrassing defeat on home soil at the hands of Bangladesh after they defeated the green shirts in both Test matches in Rawalpindi.

Following the defeat, multiple accounts posted that Babar Azam was seeking retirement from Test cricket. Later, it was revealed that the original post originated from a parody account of Babar Azam.

Azam has failed to play an impactful innings for Pakistan in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Bangladesh is on the brink of whitewashing Pakistan in the two-match Test series, currently being played in Rawalpindi.

The entire squad has failed to make the mark in this ongoing series. Fans expected Babar Azam to play a significant and impactful innings to stabilize the dwindling batting lineup as well as help Pakistan cruise to victory in the home Test series. However, he could not even score a half-century in any of the innings of the two Test matches.

His dismal performance has left fans disappointed and furious. Some believe he is going through a rough patch and he will bounce back soon. Others believe that he has lost track of his game.
