No personal enmity with Musharraf, claims Nawaz Sharif

Taking to Twitter, Nawaz Sharif - who himself has been living in London since 2019 on the basis of medical treatment - urged the PMLN-led government to facilitate his one-time rival Pervez Musharraf's return to Pakistan.

PML-N supreme leader and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has seemingly buried the hatched with former President Pervez Musharraf as the latter suffers from a rare disease called amyloidosis.

To clarify, Amyloidosis is the name for a group of rare, serious conditions caused by a build-up of an abnormal protein called amyloid in organs and tissues throughout the body. The build-up of amyloid proteins (deposits) can make it difficult for the organs and tissues to work properly.

Earlier, false reports began circulating on social media that Pervez Musharraf had passed away. His family rejected the reports and clarified that he is not on the ventilator, however, his recovery is not possible.

Currently, the retired general is in Dubai where he went in 2016 to seek medical treatment and has not returned since. However, he wants to spend the rest of his life in Pakistan.

PML-N ready to facilitate Pervez Musharraf

Taking to Twitter, Nawaz Sharif – who himself has been living in London since 2019 on the basis of medical treatment – urged the PMLN-led government to facilitate his one-time rival Pervez Musharraf’s return to Pakistan.

“I have no personal enmity or animosity towards Pervez Musharraf. I don’t want anyone else to suffer the traumas I have to endure for my loved ones. I pray to Allah Almighty for his health. If he wants to come back, the government should provide facilities,” Nawaz Sharif said.

Pertinent to mention, in 1999, PML-N’s government was overthrown by Pervez Musharraf. Nawaz Sharif was the prime minister at the time when the government was removed. Pervez Musharraf, then acting as Pakistan’s Chief Executive, had also issued a   controversial provisional order that suspended the Constitution of Pakistan.

Moreover, hearing the news of Nawaz Sharif’s arrest, PML-N members led massive street demonstrations and protests in the streets of Lahore, Karachi, and other cities.

Fast forward to the present day, the incumbent PML-N government has been very considerate. PML-N leader and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that no hurdles will be placed for Pervez Musharraf’s return to Pakistan. However, Musharraf’s family has said that his current health condition does not permit him to travel to Pakistan.
