The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) ascended four spots in QS University Ranking Asia 2020- a subgroup of QS World University Rankings.
The universities’ worth in the ranking has been determined on ten indicators – academic and employee reputation, faculty-student ratio, citation per paper, paper per faculty, staff with Ph.D., internationalization and a few others.

29 Pakistani varsities have featured in the list of a total of 557 Asian Universities that are included from 17 different countries. Only seven Pakistani varsities have featured in a group of top 200 universities as compared to eight in the previous corresponding rankings.
NUST not only sustained its position as the country’s top educational institute from Pakistan but also is the only Pakistani varsity to be included in the group of top 100 Asian varsities. NUST has jumped 29 positions in the rankings in the past three years. From standing at 112th spot, NUST now stands at 83rd spot in the rankings of 2020.
NUST is also included in the pool of top 400 international universities in the QS World University Rankings 2020.

On the other hand, other top-five Pakistani institutions included in the ranking of Asian universities are Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), 110th, Quaid e Azam University at 111th spot, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology at 151 and the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) at 169th spot.
Besides, NUST the above mentioned four Pakistani varsities have descended substantial spots in the latest rankings from the previous year.
Indian and Chinese universities dominated the QS University Ranking Asia 2020. Whereas, the National University of Singapore was the top-ranked university in Asia. There is only a single new addition to the top 10 rankings of QS Asian Universities- China’s Zhejiang University, which ascended seven spots to take the place at 6th spot in the top 10 rankings.

Surprisingly, only four out of seventeen locations have featured in the top 10 rankings. While Pakistan could only register 29 universities in the rankings, 96 varsities from India have made their place in the top 557 Asian Universities list. China dominated the rankings with 118 varsities in the rankings. Chinese varsities also dominated the top 10 list of Asian Universities with 6 universities in the list.
