NY Muslim Police Officers Society sends relief goods for flood victims

New York (NY) Muslim Officers Society sent a relief goods for the flood victims in Pakistan on Sunday. Relief items include clothing and cleaning materials collected by the members of the society.

The relief package was dispatched from the John F. Kennedy International Airport through Turkish Airlines Cargo. Adeel Rana, the head NYPD Muslim Officers Society, said that millions of people have lost their homes or are underwater following the devastating floods across Pakistan. He said they would continue to relief aid following the first shipment.

Rana also expressed gratitude to Turkiye’s Consul General Reyhan Ozgur and Turkish Airlines for mediating a free delivery of the cargo to Pakistan. Society’s Vice Chairman Ali Hammutoglu said that they established three centers at different points in New York. He says they collected aid materials more than they expected in a short period.

Adeel Rana, the head of the NYPD Muslim Officers Society, is also the first Pakistani-American deputy inspector of the New York Police Department last year. He was promoted from the post of precinct commanding officer. The next cargo will arrive with 20 tonnes of medical supplies for first aid activities for the flood disaster victims in Pakistan. Overseas Pakistanis are donating generously to facilitate the flood victims in Pakistan.

Earlier, former Prime Minister Imran Khan distributed cheques to the flood victims in Pakistan collected through fundraising. In a bid to help the flood victims, Imran Khan held three telethons to raise donations for the flood victims. Pakistanis donated generously. Addressing the flood victims at Dera Ismail Khan, Imran Khan said that it is a big responsibility to spend the donations transparently collected from the public. He said that PTI had decided to give money to the victims only for building houses.

“We have established a comprehensive verification system to distribute money to the flood victims. Under this system, the victims will give a check to the bank, and they will get the money because it is against my religion to humiliate the victims and give them money,” he said.
