The video shows several officers of the Sindh police forcing the woman, who has been identified by media sources as the widow of martyred cop Hawaldar Bashir Momin and throwing her out of her house. The woman can be seen raising objections and making appeals to the policemen to not force her out of her home, while lady police officials unceremoniously lift up her and attempt to drag her out.

SSP Khaipur Umar Tufail condemned the actions undertaken by the police officials. “Unfortunately, the evacuation was grossly mishandled and not performed in a manner that is lawful and just.

The woman is clutching a picture of her martyred husband, and protesting the policemen to allow her to continue living under her roof, but she is lifted up from her hands and legs by the lady police and dragged off of her charpoy. Social media users lambasted Sindh police for cruelty and mishandling and urged the government to take action against responsible officers.

SSP Khairpur Responds

“The Supreme Court has issued orders to evacuate all unlawfully occupied land that originally belonged Deewan Om Prakash and this was not even a matter concerning the police officials. The district administration ordered the police with written notice, and officials from the district administration accompanied the police to vacate the land belonging to the Deewan. The land was vacated and sealed by the authorities”, said SSP Khairpur Umar Tufail.

He went on to reveal, “Later on, the land mafia in the area encroached the sealed land, and schemed to house women at that place. The district officials contacted the police again, and the lady police officials were sent along to take action.”

The woman should not have been dragged, but in fact, they should have spoken to her respectfully and explained the situation clearly. Even if they had to be strict, lifting her up and dragging her was absolutely wrong”, explained SSP Khairpur.

SSP Khaipur Umar Tufail condemned the actions undertaken by the police officials. “Unfortunately, the evacuation was grossly mishandled and not performed in a manner that is lawful and just. As soon as I was informed of this incident, the police officials present at the scene were suspended”.

“Since action cannot be taken against the DSP, a report has been sent to the DIG, and ASP City Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan has also been informed of the inquiry against the police officials who mishandled the situation. He will be dealing with the senior police officers present on the scene himself.”

“Further inquiry has been set up against the senior officers who were present at the scene. Although police officers were operating on lawful orders of the Supreme Court, the affair was grossly mishandled. The woman should not have been dragged, but in fact, they should have spoken to her respectfully and explained the situation clearly. Even if they had to be strict, lifting her up and dragging her was absolutely wrong”, explained SSP Khairpur.
