PTI leader Omar Ayub claims that former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa insisted on resuming talks with the banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). His statement came as the Pakistani military once again blamed Imran Khan for the resurgence of terrorism in the country.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Friday said that security forces are ‘paying in blood’ for the decisions made by the PTI-led government in 2021, specifically, holding a dialogue with the terrorist outfit.
He said the talks with TTP reintegrated TTP, which the army termed Fitna Al Khawarij. Responding to the criticism, Omar Ayub on X said that DG ISPR said that it was General Bajwa who advocated for the peace talks with TTP.
“In response to a question about peace negotiations with the TTP in the National Security Committee’s meeting in 2021, General Bajwa told the participants that all conflicts end with negotiations,” he wrote.
He said that the former parliamentarians and leaders of all the parties including Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, PTI and other parties attended the meeting held in the Parliament House.
“DG ISPR should know that it was General Bajwa who advocated peace talks with TTP. In response to a question about peace negotiations with the TTP in the National Security Committee’s meeting in 2021, General Bajwa told the participants that all conflicts end with negotiations. The meeting was attended by all the top leadership and parliamentarians of PPP, PMLn, PTI and other parties in Parliament,” said Omar Ayub in the tweet.

He argued that DG ISPR has been given the same old script with the same allegations.
“In response to DG ISPRs other allegations against PTI, it appears that he was handed the same old script he has been reading out the last few months (that has been rejected time and again), and he has read it out again. The same thing happened to President Yelstin of the Russian Federation when his assistant handed him a speech to read but mistakenly added a copy of the same speech. President Yelstin read out his speech and then continued to re read and repeat his speech when he realized that he was re-reading the speech,” said Omar Ayub in his speech.
