Pak Army takes note of “propaganda campaign” dividing institution & society

Following former prime minister Imran Khan's ouster through a successful vote of no-confidence, there were many social media trends against the army.

Pakistan Army has taken notice of the propaganda campaign against the country’s armed forces that started following the ouster of Imran Khan at the 79th Formation Commanders’ Conference, held at the General Head Quarters on Tuesday.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement on the conference. According to details by ISPR, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) presided over the conference which was attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army.

The participants attending the 79th Formation Commanders Conference were briefed on the professional matters, national security challenges, and measures being undertaken to counter traditional and non-traditional threats.

The military’s media wing said that the army chief “expressed satisfaction over operational preparedness of formations and response mechanism to deal with emerging challenges”.

The forum also paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of officers and men to ensure the security of borders and the safety of the masses.

Pakistan Army’s strong stance

Pertinent to mention, following former prime minister Imran Khan’s ouster through a successful vote of no-confidence, there were many social media trends against the army. Therefore, the conference took notice of the social media developments.

“The forum took note of the recent propaganda campaign by some quarters to malign Pakistan Army and create division between the institution and society,” ISPR said.

The military’s media wing also emphasized that the national security of the country is “sacrosanct”.

“Pakistan Army has always stood by the state institutions to guard them and always will, without any compromise. The forum also expressed complete confidence in the leadership’s well-considered stance to uphold the constitution and rule of law, at all costs,” said the statement by ISPR.

“The Pakistan Army is aware of its responsibilities and shall continue to defend territorial integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan against all internal and external threats under all circumstances,” the COAS concluded.
