Pakistan Consulate in Germany attacked, demands action against attackers

The Consulate of Pakistan Germany attacked by a group of angry mobs and protestors. The incident happened on Sunday when Afghan nationals protested against Pakistan outside the Embassy in Frankfurt Germany.

As seen in the video, some of the protestors scaled the walls of the mission and attempted to burn Pakistan’s flag. The initial reports suggest there were eight to ten Afghan nationals who fled the scene after storming the Pakistani consulate.

Sources claim that Pakistan summoned the German Ambassador to Pakistan to the Foreign Office following the incident. The government urged the ambassador to arrest the culprits.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Foreign Office called the protestors as ‘gang of assailants’. Pakistan has not mentioned the nationalities of the protestors in its official statement.

. “Pakistan strongly condemns yesterday’s attack by a gang of extremists on its consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, and the failure of the German authorities to protect the sanctity and security of the premises,” it read.

“In yesterday’s incident, the security of Pakistan’s consulate in Frankfurt was breached, endangering the lives of its consular staff,” the statement added. “We are conveying our strong protest to the German government,” it added.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office urged the German government to take necessary measures for the protection and safety of the Pakistani mission in Germany, according to the Vienna Convention.

“We also urge the German authorities to take immediate measures to arrest and prosecute those involved in yesterday’s incident and hold to account those responsible for the lapses in security,” it demanded.

Pakistani Embassy in Berlin condemned the incident and called it a ‘reprehensible vandalizing act’.

“We condemn the reprehensible vandalizing act @pakinFrankfurt by miscreants on 20 July 2024. We are in contact with authorities to ensure such a situation doesn’t arise again & the miscreants face legal consequences. We appeal to our community to be patient & calm,” it said in a social media post.
