Pakistan issues visa to Indian man, brothers reunited after 74 years

Pakistan High Commission issued a visa to Sika Khan to visit his brother, Muhammed Siddique, and other family members in Pakistan. The two brothers, separated in 1947, were recently reunited after 74 years at Kartarpur Corridor.

Pakistan issues a visa to an elderly man from India to meet his brother in Pakistan separated for 74 years. The two elderly men had met at Kartarpur Sahib via Kartarpur Corridor earlier this month. The emotional video of the two men meeting at the Kartarpur Corridor had gone viral in India and Pakistan.

Pakistan High Commission in India shared the picture of handing over a visa to the Indian man excited to meet his separated brother and family in Pakistan. “Today, Pakistan High Commission issues a visa to Sika Khan to visit his brother, Muhammed Siddique, and other family members in Pakistan. The two brothers separated in 1947 were recently reunited after 74 years at Kartarpur Sahib Corridor,” read the tweet of Pakistan High Commission in India.

“The story of the two brothers is a powerful illustration of how the historic opening of the visa-free Kartarpur Sahib Corridor in November 2019 by Pakistan is bringing people closer to each other,” the tweet read further.

Two brothers separated during the India-Pakistan partition met at Kartarpur after 74 years. The heartwarming video of two brothers embracing each other had garnered traction on social media.

Pakistan High Commission also shared the video of the man expressing gratitude for being granted a visa to meet his family.

Kartarpur Corridor reunites families

As per the details, Siddique, 74, resident of Faisalabad met his elder brother who arrived at Kartarpur at Phullanwala from Indian Punjab. The two brothers met and cried tears of joy while embracing each other. They recalled their memories as they decided to continue meeting through Kartarpur Corridor. Habib lauded the initiative of the Kartarpur Corridor. He said that Corridor has become the source of reuniting families separated for years.

The Kartarpur Corridor links Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the final resting place of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district.
