Google has officially launched Google Wallet in Pakistan, offering users a seamless and secure digital payment experience. The mobile wallet allows Android users to store payment cards, boarding passes, and loyalty cards, enabling contactless transactions both in-person and online. This launch marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s evolving digital payments landscape.
Seamless Digital Transactions
Google Wallet enables users to make in-store payments using their Android phones and Wear OS devices wherever contactless payments are accepted. Additionally, it supports online and in-app transactions at merchants integrated with Google Pay. With a growing number of Pakistanis adopting digital transactions, Google Wallet aims to simplify payments while enhancing financial accessibility.

Currently, cardholders from several major Pakistani banks can link their debit and credit cards to Google Wallet. The supported banks include:

- Bank of Punjab (Mastercard credit cards)
- Faysal Bank Noor (Mastercard debit cards)
- HBL (Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards)
- Jazzcash (Mastercard debit cards)
- Meezan Bank (Visa and Mastercard debit cards)
- UBL (Visa and Mastercard debit cards)
More banks will be integrated soon, including:

Integration with Merchants and Travel Services
Google Wallet extends beyond payments, allowing users to store and access boarding passes, loyalty cards, and travel tickets. Airlines such as Batik Air and Thai Airways support Google Wallet, ensuring a smoother airport experience with real-time notifications about departure times and gate changes.
Online shopping is also set to become more convenient. Merchants such as Onic, Gul Ahmed, Sana Safinaz, J., and KE will support Google Wallet through PayFast’s integration with Google Pay. Businesses using Safepay’s platform will soon offer contactless payments, expanding the reach of Google Wallet in Pakistan.
Security Features for Safe Transactions
Google Wallet prioritizes security, employing industry-standard tokenization to protect financial data. Instead of sharing actual card details, a device-specific alternate card number (token) is used for transactions. Each transaction generates a dynamic security code for added protection.
Users must verify their identity before adding a card, and all stored data is secured through screen lock protection. In case of a lost or stolen device, the Find My Device feature allows users to lock or erase their information remotely.

To start using Google Wallet, users can download the app from the Google Play Store. If they already have an eligible card linked to their Google account, it will automatically appear in the wallet, ready for activation. New cards can be added by selecting “Add a card,” accepting the bank’s terms, and completing a verification process. Additionally, users can store bus, train, and event tickets from platforms like Bookme.pk and Sastaticket.pk within Google Wallet for easy access.
