Euphoria Begins Filming for Season 3

"Euphoria" Season 3 begins production in January 2025, promising to explore new themes and maintain its intense narrative.

After a long hiatus, the critically acclaimed HBO drama “Euphoria” is set to begin production for its third season in January 2025. Created, written, and directed by Sam Levinson, the series has captivated audiences with its raw portrayal of teenage life, earning star Zendaya an Emmy for her role.

Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming, expressed her excitement: “We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of ‘Euphoria’ to life for the fans.”

Cast

“Euphoria” has significantly boosted the careers of its ensemble cast, including Zendaya, Colman Domingo, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Storm Reid. The show’s Season 2 premiere set a record as the most-viewed episode of an HBO series on HBO Max, amassing over 14 million viewers across platforms. Despite the delays and challenges, including the untimely death of beloved cast member Angus Cloud, the core cast will return for the new season.

New Directions and Challenges

The upcoming season promises a fresh take, with discussions about moving the setting beyond high school and exploring more mature themes. Levinson hinted at a possible time jump and described the new season as a “film noir” that will delve into what it means to have principles in a corrupt world, all through Rue’s perspective. HBO CEO Casey Bloys mentioned, “Sam is busy writing, and we believe the fans will be thrilled with what’s in store.”

The journey to Season 3 has not been smooth. Hollywood’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, which ended in late 2023, stalled production. Additionally, the passing of Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, cast a shadow over the team. Each season will now include a tribute to Cloud, honoring his contribution to the show. Despite these setbacks, the production team and cast remain committed to delivering a compelling new season.

While no official release date for Season 3 has been announced, the production start in January 2025 marks a positive shift. Fans can anticipate the return of their favorite characters and the continuation of the intense, gripping narrative that “Euphoria” is known for.
