Some of the Pakistani Cricket Team players return home including Wahab Riaz, who landed in Lahore early Wednesday morning after their disappointing performance in the iCC T20 World Cup 2024.
Players including Naseem Shah, Usman Khan, and Team Manager Wahab Riaz reached Lahore through a private online. Meanwhile, some of the players have extended their stay in the US. Skipper Babar Azam will return to Pakistan from the USA on June 22nd, 2024.
Players who have extended their stay also include Haris Rauf and Azam Khan. Muhammad Amir and Imad Wasim will not return to Pakistan. Meanwhile, Head Coach Gary Kirsten returned to his home and will not return to Pakistan.
Pakistan faced a humiliating exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after losing to the USA and India in the group stage. They only managed to win their matches against Ireland and Canada. With the USA ahead of Pakistan with one extra point, Pakistan was eliminated from the group stage, for the first time ever from any ICC tournament.

Alleged statements of Gary Kirsten during the team talk also went viral on social media in the last couple of days. Head Coach allegedly criticized the team for lack of unit, and poor shot selection.
“There’s no unity in Pakistan’s team, They call it a team, but it isn’t a team. They aren’t supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I’ve worked with many teams, but I’ve never seen such a situation,” Gary Kirsten is allegedly quoted as saying during a talk with the team in the dressing room.
He also added that despite years of playing games, Pakistani players do not know which shot to play. His alleged statements have created commotion among the cricket fraternity. Fans and former Pakistani and Indian cricketers are heavily weighing on the issue on social media.
