The seventh annual U.S. News and World Report Best Global Universities rankings 2021 are released in which different universities from all over the globe are compared using 13 factors, with research and academic reputation on focus.
13 Pakistani Universities made it to the rankings-selected from a pool of 1748 Universities from all around the world. Quaid-i-Azam University topped the list of Best Universities in Pakistan with the highest score of 53.3.
Other notable institutions which made it to the list were Aga Khan University, COMSATS Islamabad, National University of Science and Technology (NUST), University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, University of Peshawar and University of Punjab.

The ranking includes 1500 institutions from across 86 countries. There are thirteen factors which are used to ascertain the rank of the institution. The highest weightage among these factors is assigned to Global research reputation at 12.5%, Regional Research reputation at 12.5% and Number of publications that are among the 10% most cited at 12.5%.
59 Indian institutions were included in the ranking list. Pakistani institutions did fairly well than their Indian counterparts as the global rank of Quaid-i-Azam University is 425th with an overall score of 53.3 as compared to the top-ranked Indian Institution, i.e. Institute of Science, Bangalore globally ranked at 520 with an overall score of 49.7.
