On the special invitation of the Chinese leadership, Prime Minister Imran Khan will undertake his fourth visit to attend the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, I will accompany the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister’s visit has a special significance as it demonstrates the solidarity and goodwill of the Government and people of Pakistan with their Chinese brothers and sisters on the festive occasion of the Olympics, which coincides with the celebrations of the Lunar New Year.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Government and people of China a successful holding of the Winter Olympics and continued happiness, health, and prosperity in the new year.
The visit is also taking place in the backdrop of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan’s diplomatic relations with China, which were befittingly commemorated throughout 2021 with over 140 celebratory events years in both countries.

While rejoicing over 70 years of exemplary friendship and time-tested partnership, our two countries envision a brighter future and are firmly committed to building the “Pakistan-China Community of Shared Future in the New Era.”

Over the decades, Pakistan-China cooperation has encompassed strategic, political, economic, commercial, defence, science and technology, and people-to-people relations. Our excellent ties with China are indeed a model for modern inter-state relations and an important factor of regional peace and stability.
We are looking forward to witnessing the immaculate preparations of the great Chinese nation for putting together this spectacular and splendid sporting gala in Beijing, the only city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

I am confident that the participating athletes will make their fellow countrymen proud by testing the limits of their sporting skills in fair competition and true spirit of the Olympics.
