This hearty stew is made with slow-cooked lamb or goat meat and a mix of yummy spices. The name itself means “head and feet” because those are the tasty parts used in the dish. The literal translation of Siri Paya is ‘head and feet’. Made with a combination of spices, the dish is cooked slowly to get the maximum flavors of all the ingredients. When cooked, the dish is garnished with garlic and lemon and served with hot Tandoor naans.

TasteAtlas is a popular website for people who love to travel and try new things from different places. They have information on all sorts of traditional foods from around the world. Siri Paya’s win shows that Pakistani food is both unique and delicious.

According to TasteAtlas, a renowned global food review publication, Zahid Nihari on Tariq Road in Karachi has secured the 89th position on its list of recommended restaurants to explore in 2024.

According to the website, “Zahid Nihari specializes in nihari, a slow-cooked beef stew, renowned for its rich flavors and tender meat, served in a basic, no-frills environment. This restaurant is a landmark in Karachi for traditional Pakistani cuisine.”

“These are not just places to eat, but also cultural institutions for their cities. They are ranked taking into account three criteria: longevity, visitors ratings, and the TasteAtlas ratings of the iconic dishes they offer,” it added.

The statement adds that among the 23,751 traditional eateries featuring local cuisines in the website’s database, these 100 restaurants distinguished themselves due to their enduring presence, consistent quality, and the iconic status achieved by both the restaurant and its signature dishes. Zahid Nihari has been recommended by Saleema Feerasta and six other food critics.
