Past is to learn from, not live in: PM Khan tells India

News Desk |

Prime Minister Imran Khan while addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of Kartarpur Border in Narowal said that Pakistan and India should think about the potential they have; opening the borders and starting a trade would help end the poverty.

Stressing the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue, the premier said,” Kashmir issue is the only dispute that needs to be resolved. We want a civilized relationship.”

PM Khan said, “To think about the war between two nuclear powers is madness. We can’t go into war with each other; the only option is then to be friends.” “If France and Germany who fought several wars can live in peace, why can’t India and Pakistan,” the premier added.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other government officials.

Dismissing the myths of Civil-Military differences over friendship with India, PM Khan ascertained, “I want to tell you that the civil and military institutions are on the same page.”

“We will keep improving Kartarpur corridor and next year when you come to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, you will see all modern facilities will be available there,” the premier promised.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Khan had laid the foundation stone of Kartarpur Corridor which will link Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan with India’s Gurdaspur district.
