Pakistan Cricket Board appoints Matthew Hayden as a mentor for the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup in October 2022.
The former Australian cricketer inspired Pakistan to the semifinal of the ICC T20 World Cup played in Dubai last year. Pakistan had defeated India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland, and Namibia in the league matches and cruised to the semifinal of the world cup. The team, unfortunately, lost against Australia after a tough fight in the semifinal.
Hayden will join the team in Brisbane on October 15th, the day Pakistan will arrive from Christchurch after playing the T20I series, also involving Bangladesh and hosts New Zealand.
Chairman PCB Ramiz Raja says that Matthew Hayden is a proven performer and with his credentials acknowledged and recognized world over.

Raja says Hayden brings with him a wealth of knowledge about Australian conditions. He believes his addition to the team will significantly approve the performance of the Pakistan Cricket Team. Hayden says he can’t wait to be back with the team and again feel the spirit of One Nation One Passion”.
“I have seen how Pakistan has been performing in the ACC T20 Asia Cup and Sunday’s win over India was brilliant,” he said.
“I think this Pakistan side has got what it takes to excel in Australia and the conditions will really suit them, both from a batting and bowling perspective. This team has all of its bases covered and I am sure it will light up the World Cup as it did in the UAE last year.
“I feel privileged to be given an opportunity to pass on all my experience and knowledge about all conditions in Australia and can’t wait to be back in the Pakistan dressing room,” said Hayden.
In his several interviews, Hayden has been all praise for Pakistani players.
