Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reviewing the central contracts of several players in a late-night huddle following the exit of the Pakistan Cricket team from the T20 World Cup 2024.
Some players will be demoted in their central contracts while others can have their contracts canceled altogether. According to the latest report, players Imad Wasim, Muhammad Amir, Usman Khan, Azam Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed are expected to face difficulties while keeping their place in the national team in the future.
PCB is also planning to take action against the group of three players who are said to be blackmailing the PCB at the behest of their manager. The manager represents all three players and even managed to get a significant increase in the remuneration of the player’s central contracts.
Pakistan Cricket Team has lost terribly against the USA and then India. The chances of Pakistan progressing into the Super 8 of the tournament are getting thinner and largely depend upon the outcome of other matches. Pakistan is set to play its last group match against Ireland on June 16th, 2024 in Florida which is expected to be washed out due to the ongoing heavy rains in the city. With the match between Ireland and USA, a washout, Pakistan has been officially eliminated from the tournament.
Last week after the team’s poor performance against India, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had hinted at a major surgery in the team. “It seemed that a minor surgery would work but after this bad performance, I’m now sure that a major surgery is required. The nation will soon see a major overhaul,” said Naqvi.
